THE CHARGES

The DC grouped the 94 charges into two distinct groups; 83 were related to overcharging in relation to services rendered while the other 11 were related to false representation in her invoices that included significant mark ups over the fees levied by other specialists.

During the disciplinary proceedings, the committee found that Dr Lim had greatly inflated the bill for her services and charged many times above the market rate for procedures that were not in her specific field of specialisation, that is, surgery. Moreover, the services she had rendered were in fact more palliative in nature rather than surgical and she was coordinating treatment with other specialists. As such, they found that the fees charged were “grossly excessive” and not in keeping with the services provided.
